San Juan Stick telemark skiing lurk Marshell Thompson
Skiing with a single long pole or "lurk" (or "Pachon" in French) instead of two ski poles has a long history dating back to the 1800s and probably earlier. Bishop has collaborated with San Juan Sticks out of Silverton, Colorado to bring you a modern, dual-function take on this ancient skiing tradition. Bishop engineered and refined the design to be used as one long pole, or quickly separated into two poles with small spikes for getting grip on ice/firm snow for backcountry travel, riding a chairlift, or navigating tight trees. It can also be used for instruction and improving techniques. Watch Bishop athlete Marshell Thompson shred with a San Juan Stick in this beautiful edit: King of the Lurk.
