San Juan Stick telemark skiing lurk Marshell ThompsonSkiing with a single long pole or "lurk" (or "Pachon" in French) instead of two ski poles has a long history dating back to the 1800s and probably earlier. Bishop has collaborated with San Juan Sticks out of Silverton, Colorado to bring you a modern, dual-function take on this ancient skiing tradition. We call our lurk the "San Juan Stick", and it can be used as one long pole, or quickly separated into two poles for backcountry travel, riding a chairlift, gondola, or navigating tight trees. It can also be used for instruction and improving techniques. Watch Bishop athlete Marshell Thompson shred with a San Juan Stick in this beautiful edit: King of the Lurk.
