We lost Logan Jauernigg in a kayaking accident on May 15, 2015. He was an amazing young man, only 20 years old.
As a wee lad in the high mountains of Colorado, Logan Jauernigg was exposed to the rugged life of mountain folk. He was raised on skis but it wasn’t until he got on telemark that he hit the sweet spot of big mountain skiing. Since middle school he pursued his passion for adventure sports, from bouldering, sport and trad climbing to whitewater kayaking and his high altitude addiction to backcountry skiing. Logan spent every free day in the backcountry or lapping the park with a gang of wily hooligans.
Logan competed for Bishop in his first Big Mountain Telemark Competition at Grand Targhee last season and placed in the top 5! He had grand plans for telemark descents across the west from Colorado’s Gore Range to the Tetons and Washington’s Cascade Range. He will be missed by many.
He was his mom, Michelle Schund's whole world. If you would like to help her out, you can donate to Logan's memorial fund, and find out more about the "Live Like Logan" Scholarship fund, to give the opportunity for young bad-asses the financial freedoms and abilities to follow their dreams.
